ERO report

Avon Kindergarten

Nau mai haere mai, welcome to Avon Kindergarten.

We invite all families/whanau to meet our dedicated teachers and support staff to observe our programme as the children explore, develop and learn new skills alongside others in a relaxed, friendly environment.

Through our programme we foster curiosity, independence, creativity and respect for others. Our expansive outdoor area offers children opportunities to explore the natural environment and develop confidence through physical challenges.

We welcome all enquiries. Please do not hesitate to phone, text or email if you wish to know more about our kindergarten. We look forward to meeting you and your children. To avoid disappointment, we advise all parents/whanau to enrol their children early.

Philosophy

Our aim at Avon kindergarten is to build relationships with families and whanau (nga Hononga) that foster a sense of belonging. We believe these relationships, interactions and our environment form a strong basis to have a positive and significant impact on learning for the children and their families.

We are committed to working with the essence of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, growing in our knowledge of Tikanga Maori as part of our daily culture.

We value each child's uniqueness and encourage them to follow their own interests.

We support and encourage our children to:

  • Respect others and develop self-worth
  • Develop confidence and become increasingly independent
  • Communicate and express themselves through a range of experiences
  • Develop a desire to learn and be curious of the world around them
  • Have fun and enjoy learning alongside others
  • Develop a positive attitude to physical activity and new challenges
  • Use their imagination and creativity
  • To engage in long-term projects that requires perseverance and commitment.
