Koromiko Kindergarten
Nau mai haere mai ki te Koromiko Kindergarten.
We are a passionate teaching team providing a warm, caring environment that feels natural and inviting. It is a place of fun,
learning and happiness. We are a community of learners.
We offer small group sizes, with 30 children in the morning sessions and 20 children in the afternoon sessions, with a ratio of
teachers to children 1 to 10.
This enables improved learning situations, as all the children benefit from more quality involvement with teachers.
Within our park like setting of trees and gardens, we promote values of caring for; ourselves, each other, the environment and
the kindergarten pets. There are opportunities for children to enjoy areas of their interests, from a wonderful sandpit to
climbing playground equipment and art experiences to music and family play.
Philosophy
"Manaaki whenua. Manaaki tangata. Haere whakamua"
"Care for the land. Care for the people. Go forward."
We value all members of our community and encourage them to be involved with
this nurturing, respectful and enthusiastic learning environment.
Children have many opportunities to develop to their full potential, in
their own unique way, through spontaneous uninterrupted play.
We are passionate that both our indoor and outdoor environments reflect
aspects of Papatuanuku, mother earth, through the gifts of nature and
natural resources.
We rejoice in the many cultures involved in our centre. We honour our
bi-cultural heritage and seek to deepen our knowledge of Tikanga Maori and
Te Reo.
We have a strong focus on Education for Sustainability that incorporates the
principles of "reduce, reuse and recycle". We teach this through our every
day practices and real life experiences of gardening, cooking, caring for
ourselves and caring for our environment.
