Patea Kindergarten

Patea is the only Kindergarten within our local community, running one session per day for 3-5yr old children.

Our centre reflects our value on the natural environment, encouraging children to work and play confidently using materials and resources respectfully from Papatuanuku, both within our indoor and outdoor settings.

A centre focus is to encourage, support and nurture our children and whanau with skills that will support them as they build and sustain meaningful relationships with others. Part of our team vision is to empower our children with rich language, self help skills, empathy and respect toward others while engaged in a programme which fosters natural curiosity.

We have an 'open door' policy, valuing the involvement of parents/whanau and the wider community. Recently we have developed a Community Garden, which is an extension of the children interest in their own Garden area.

We believe Patea Kindergarten provides a unique learning experience for children, focusing and extending on individual interests.

Philosophy

Our learning environment will reflect an inclusive practice where family/whanau and the wider community feel welcome, acknowledged and encouraged to become an active part of their children's development; where meaningful relationships are supported and encouraged.

We believe our enthusiasm as educators will inspire children's curiosity, amazement, passion and sense of fun as they explore and experiment, learning to make sense of their world.
