Notice of Fees Increase from 11 October 2010
The South Taranaki Free Kindergarten Association must announce a fee increase effective from Monday 11 October 2010.
The new rates are connected to:
- Having some relativity with fees across the early childhood sector, towards lower end of scale
- Planning for major reductions in Government funding next year
- Increase in GST from 1 October
- Increased costs
This is the second increase since fees were introduced in 2007.
The current fee (for any hours not covered by 20 hours free) is $2.50 per hour 12.5% GST inclusive. The new fee structure will be as follows:
Hourly rate for morning or afternoon sessions $3.00 (15% GST incl)
Hourly rate for 6 hour sessions $3.25 (15% GST incl)
Families can still bring their 20 hours free to kindergarten. There is no fee for 20 hours free time, but any hours not covered by 20 hours free funding will attract a fee.
Up to now the Association has not charged fees for 1 and a quarter hours where the child's full 20 hours free funding was being used at kindergarten, but this will also change from 11 October. For example, where a child attends 4 and a quarter hour sessions every day, totalling 21 and a quarter hours across the week and using all their 20 hours free at kindergarten, the Association in the past has not charged the extra 1 and a quarter hours to the family. From 11 October the extra time not covered by 20 hours free funding will be charged, eg. 1.25 hours x $3.00 = $3.75 per week in this example.
Preferred payment methods will continue to be direct debit or cheque. Direct debit forms are available at all kindergartens. Families paying fees will be invoiced monthly. WINZ subsidies may be available to assist with fee payment, please contact your local WINZ office to find out whether your family will qualify for this subsidy.
